Evening Economy Initiatives

WVone work tirelessly with partners and agencies to promote a safe and positive night-time economy for the City.  In addition to the monthly pubwatch meetings and security forum the WVone also take part in crime prevention initiatives such as those below:

Alcohol crackdown - 'You're Barred'

Police and Licensees are sending out a strong message to troublemakers in Wolverhampton that they will not be tolerated, in a new crackdown on alcohol-fuelled crime.  Posters have been put up at all city centre licensed premises warning would-be offenders about the consequences of any criminal or anti-social behaviour.

Under the new “One Strike and You’re Out” policy, a person will be banned from every pub and club in Wolverhampton city centre if they cause problems in a particular venue.

Officers can also ask anybody who they think is likely to become violent or disruptive to leave the area for a period of time. Those who return within that time can be arrested.

Keep It Safe Campaign

For the past two years Wolverhampton PCT has led the Keep It Safe Campaign running over the Christmas and New Year season - designed to help visitors enjoy themselves safely and have a trouble-free journey home afterwards.

Extra police officers gave evening revellers reassurance, road closures ensured that only licensed taxis were allowed in the city centre and empty shop windows displayed graphics with directions to taxi ranks, toilets and a medical assistance safe-haven.  Street Pastors were on hand to offer advice and give flip-flops to any high-heel wearer in need.

The campaign was run by the PCT, WM Police, Wolverhampton City Council, WVone and Security Officers, and has been recognised on a local and national level for its success.
