History of Wolverhampton
Whilst Wolverhampton is one of Britain's newest cities - 2011 being the 10th Anniversary Year of achieving city status - it has a 1000 year-long history, with magnificent buildings, churches and open spaces reflecting this heritage.
There's a great way to find out about the history of the City - why not become a member of the Wolverhampton Civic & Historical Society?
The Wolverhampton Civic and Historical Society was formed by the merger of the Wolverhampton History and Heritage Society and the Wolverhampton Civic Society in December 2010. The Society is dedicated to promoting the history and heritage of Wolverhampton and ensuring that any new buildings and developments do not adversely affect the character and image of the city.
