'Travels With Morris' (Morris Minor That Is!)

14th February 2012

Wolverhampton’s Central Youth Theatre is celebrating the classic British motor car, the Morris Minor, in a unique film project entitled ‘Travels With Morris’.

The project is the brainchild of youth theatre director and life-long Morris enthusiast, Jane Ward.  Her white Morris Minor Traveller has been cast as the star of six comedy short films which chart the life of one man and his beloved Morris.  A car with so much character that it is perfect for comedy – and so ‘Travels With Morris’ was born.

The project is being funded by lottery funding from First Light Films, the education arm of the British Film Institute, which works with young people from a variety of backgrounds in developing skills in media production.  The six comedy shorts (each just 90 seconds each) follow Morris the man and Morris the car over six decades – each film represented in the movie style of the day.  The films are being premiered at a free screening at the Lighthouse Media Centre in Wolverhampton on Sunday 11th March 2012, at 6.30pm. From April, they will be released on the video website YouTube, so Morris lovers from all over the world will be able to watch Morris and his Minor in the comfort of their own homes (www.youtube.com/centralyouththeatre).

The screening of the ‘Travels With Morris’ films is a free event, although tickets need to be booked in advance.  For further information contact CYT on 01902 572091 or visit www.facebook.com/travelswithmorris for all the latest news.
